Digital communications boost in VK2

Amateur Radio New South Wales has appointed a Digital Communications Coordinator, Andrew Gilbett VK2XAG, to research, coordinate and provide advice on current and emerging digital modes and systems.

His first step is to set up a Software Defined Repeater at the VK2WI Dural site on the 70cm band.

Andrew VK2XAG has been a radio amateur for three years and currently studying Electrical Engineering at the University of Technology, Sydney. This SDR repeater will be part of his university theses.

Anyone within range of Dural is asked to watch for the repeater on 438.600 MHz with a negative 5 MHz offset.
