New version of ROS released

José Alberto Nieto Ros has released version 3.0.1 of the ROS FSK digital data mode software with significant improvements to make it even more robust.

New improvements have been incorporated into the ROS 16 HF Modes for bandwidths of 2250 and 500 Hz. These will improve even further the robustness against slow fading and interference on HF. ROS is designed to make contacts in the toughest conditions and is used for HF, EME and Meteor Scatter.

The new version also measures the S/N ratio which enables users to estimate by how much they can reduce their power without losing the link. This feature should encourage more Low Power (QRP) operation.

Intriguingly the software author suggests it may be possible for two stations to transmit with ROS 16 on the same frequency at the same time but multiple single frequency contacts are not the main objective of the software.
