The UBA reports the youngest radio amateur in Belgium, Gaël ON3GTH,
has just turned 12-years-old

It was intended for the ON3s in a booklet that he had found this. He
used it to learn the alphabet from the outside ... He was only seven!
" Are you interested in that? "
" Certainly, and I have already read a few pages from this booklet! "
And then his adventure began ...

In 2015, he will receive his ONL number (ONL12144), he has now become
eight. He starts with receiving radio signals and studying the correct
use of the bands. Then, he continues his studies, as an autodidact,
while occasionally asking questions so that he can start another page.

In 2018, things became clearer: the ON3 booklet has been processed,
only the practice remains ...
September 2018: he registers at the Ham Academy. He leaves the course
with his practical diploma in his pocket. He passed without errors and
became 11 years and 6 months. He is ready to take the BIPT exam.

December 2018, the new Royal Decree takes effect. He now has the
opportunity to take part in the radio amateur exam at the age of 12
years. Gaël was born in the month of March, and the exam takes place
on March 6, 2019.

Registration is a fact and at the age of twelve Gaël is taking the exam!
He leaves the exam room with a 22/24 and ON3GTH in his pocket!
The challenge was successful, he is the first to participate in the
exam at the age of twelve according to the provisions of the new Royal
Decree. With this he becomes the youngest radio amateur ever in
Belgium !

As a birthday present, you couldn't have dreamed better ...
Immediately this is the third generation of radio amateurs in the
family, starting with Grandpa ON5HQ, father ON6GMT and son ON3GTH.

We wish him a lot of success and especially a lot of fun with the
hobby, and hoping for a transition to HAREC in the future ...
