144 MHz signals from Cape Verde Islands heard in Germany

On Tuesday the 2nd of July 2019, there was a remarkable opening on 144
Mhz when a Sporadic-E opening from Germany to Spain coincided with a
marine ducting opening from Spain to the Cape Verde Islands off the
west coast of Africa.

This allowed the FT8 signals to travel from Cape Verde Islands to
Germany, a distance of some 4,875 kms. This is the equivalent of the
distance from the west of Ireland to New York City!
