Rads on a plane -- New results from a 3-yr study of aviation radiation

For the past three years, Spaceweather.com and the students of Earth to Sky
Calculus have been flying cosmic ray sensors onboard commercial airlines,
gathering data over 27 countries, 5 continents and 2 oceans.

New results from the study are available today. Highlights: In the USA,
planes flying over New England receive as much as 30% more radiation than
planes flying over the desert Southwest.
In South America, Chile has unusually low radiation--a likely result of its
location on the verge of the South Atlantic Anomaly. And more...
