Amateur Radio in the Cloud

In Australia, the* Bendigo Amateur Radio and Electronics Club* has invited
the public to 'Amateur Radio in the Cloud'.

Amateur Radio has always been at the forefront of communications
technologies, and these days it includes digital radio, Internet, Wi-Fi and
networking.

BAREC members will take visitors through how the internet and networking
actually works, including addressing, troubleshooting digital connections,
security issues, and how to determine where a problem lies when something
does not work. Also discussed will be the various ways of connecting to the
Internet.

DMR via the BrandMeister network will be demonstrated, as well as
cross-mode DMR/C4FM operation.

Also demonstrated will be how you can listen to DMR activity on a computer,
tablet or smartphone with an internet connection.

Digital radio communications can offer a number of advantages, and provides
worldwide communications without the need for large antennas and equipment.

The evening commences at 7.30 pm, Friday May 19th at the BAREC club room,
20 Longlea Lane, Longlea. A gold coin donation would be appreciated. Tea,
coffee and biscuits available.
