On Tuesday, January 5, *Peter Meadows M0ZBU* will give a presentation to
the Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society (CARS) on Meteor Detection, the talk
is open to all

Peter's talk will describe how to detect meteors using a homebrew 2m
antenna and a Software Defined Radio, by exploiting the GRAVES transmitter
near Dijon, France.

The talk will include descriptions of the equipment, how it has been set
up, and what software is required to record the meteor radio reflections.
This will be supplemented by visual meteor observations using still and
video cameras.

Peter's talk will include simultaneous still, video and radio detection of
a bright Leonid fireball over Essex. The picture opposite is one captured
by his automated system on an August evening.

The meeting takes place at the Oaklands Museum, Moulsham Street, CM2 9AQ.
The doors open at 7pm for a 7:30pm start, car parking and admittance are
