WRC-15 Day-6

Agenda Item 1.4 (5MHz): After a weekend of informal meetings, official
business re-commenced on Monday morning. Despite the efforts of a
number of pro-allocation administrations, intense pressure from a
number of major opponents reduced the proposed band down to 15 kHz. In
return for this major compromise, some ‘No Change’ proponents agreed
to change their position, however some opposition still remains. A
candidate frequency segment has been identified and is subject to
agreement, but the main topic of discussion is now on the power
requirement. Some administrations are insisting on an eirp figure,
while the remainder seem happy with a straight transmitter output
figure. Discussions will resume on Tuesday morning.

Agenda Item 10 (Future Agenda Items): On a more positive note and
looking at possible future items, both proposals regarding 50 MHz from
CEPT and the Arab Group, plus the 1.8-2 MHz proposal, have survived
the first cut. These will be examined in more detail in Ad-Hoc Group
6B4, alongside proposals for Electronic News Gathering, High Altitude
Platforms, ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical) usage around 60
GHz, Wireless Power Transmissions and Wireless Access Systems.
