The Introduction of HamNets

The Friskney & East Lincolnshire Communications Club (FELCC) would
like to inform SWL and Amateur Radio students wanting to learn more
about Amateur Radio, HamNets is a program designed by Jess (M6VBR) now
(2E0VBR) and Peter (M6VBF) now (2E0MID), after successfully obtaining
their Foundation License and wanting to help fellow Amateur Radio
students.

Designed a two-way Internet Communications Program, with a Chat Link
being a means of communicating while listening to Licensed Operators
on air, and a HamNet Controller like “Ron - 2E0MPE” who controls the
FELCC Wednesday night (M3/M6) net, having access to Monitor and
Organize the whole contact procedure, could communicate over the air
or directly through the HamNets portal.

This form of Communication has been a tremendous success over the past
year and successfully encouraged SWL to join the Amateur Radio
Community today, by obtaining their license through studying and
practical assessments and sitting the Foundation Exam, provided by our
Tutors.

New Students who have approached the FELCC’s Monthly Club Meeting,
have expressed their concerns of the lack of information available,
and that the HamNets program helped them gain an insight into what
Amateur Radio was about. I would like to encourage other Amateur Radio
Clubs and Societies into looking at this form of Internet
Communication and on-air listening.

HamNets is a well designed Internet program and well ahead of any
rivals, currently running in BETA version, no other type of
communication software is available at present, and the Commercial
prospects are incorrigible.
