Sultan orders construction of headquarters for ROARS

His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said has ordered the construction of a
permanent headquarters for the Royal Omani Amateur Radio Society
(ROARS) on the piece of land allocated for ROARS in Al Athaibah in the
Wilayat of Bausher.

This was unveiled by Brigadier Abdul Razaq bin Abdulqadir
al-Shahwarzi, ROARS Secretary General.

In his speech, during opening the regular session of the General
Assembly, al-Shahwarzi said that this support stems from the
continuous Royal care enjoyed by ROARS since its establishment in 1972

He extended utmost thanks and appreciation of ROARS members to His
Majesty the Sultan, affirming that the care accorded to ROARS, since
its establishment, has given this hobby a great leap to spread,
pointing out that the wise vision of His Majesty has a great role in
pushing all activities that may upgrade the youths and availing the
opportunity of the scientific and technical progress for them.

On his turn, Abdullah bin Darwish al-Qasmi, member of ROARS Board
commended the efforts being exerted by the members through their
effective participation in various activities and programmes. He
reviewed the ROARS action plan for 2013, calling upon the members to
activate these activities in a bid to maintain the local and
international status of ROARS in this field.

Al-Qasmi highlighted the most important activities to be organized by
ROARS, namely Oman Rally, a number of competitions related to amateur
radio, World Amateur Radio Day, besides other activities
