 International Day of Astronomy - R40AST

A group of Russian amateur radio operators will activate the special
callsign R40AST during a complex WAO, RAO and TV DXpedition in the
Astronomical Observatory of the North Caucasus.

Activity will take place between April 18-22nd, in celebration of the
40th anniversary of the "International Day of Astronomy" (April 19th),
one of the oldest scientific disciplines of the Earth, in the
framework of the world diploma program Astronomical Observatories
(WAO) and National
diploma program Astronomical Observatories of Russia (RAO) from the
following Astronomical Observatories of the North Caucasus:

April 19th - Remote astronomical Observatory of the Scientific Centre
(Ka-Dar); RAO-041.
April 19th - BTA (Big Telescope Alt-Azimuthal); RAO-007.
April 20th - Caucasian mountain Observatory astronomical Institute,
Moscow University; RAO-042.
April 20th - Radio astronomy Observatory, (Zelenchukskaya); RAO-027.
April 20th - RATAN-600 - Special astrophysical Observatory; RAO-011.
April 21st - North-Caucasus astronomical station KFU; RAO-028
April 21st - Station optical observations of the satellites of the
Earth (Arkhyz); RAO-044.
April 22nd - The Kislovodsk mountain astronomical station; RAO-022.

Operations will be on various HF bands using CW and SSB. Watch around
the WFF frequencies.

Operators mentioned are Oleg/UA6GG, R7TU, Andy/RN7G, Yuri/RA6EE,
Andrei/RK7A, Oleg/R3FA, Valery/RW3GW and TV-operator.

Awards are available with 5 QSOs with different RAO expeditions making
it possible to automatically fulfill the terms of the WAO EU 3 class
(5 QSO, more details: at http://www.wff44.org/program/wsp/wao/rules)
and RAO class 3 (5 QSO, more details
http://www.greenrussia.travel/RAO).
You may receive an e-Diploma for WAO and RAO.

The expedition will be filmed for a documentary (Green Russia) showing
the participation by radio amateurs.

A special QSL can be obtained via UA6GG (direct, by the Bureau or Green
LogSearch).
