AM for ANZAC Day

North Queensland Radio Amateurs will be involved with the AM for ANZAC Day event on the 25th of April from 0300UTC.

The Townsville Amateur Radio Club will be operating Club Station
AX 4 WIT on AM and CW in the Club Rooms at West End - situated in a fortified World War 2 RAAF Communications Centre.

TARCinc, led by Mal VK4MSS, will activate a number of World War 2 fortifications in Charters Towers, primarily on Towers Hill.

Participants in the Friendly Afternoon Net on 7115kHz from 0600UTC will be using Amplitude Modulation, with net control for the Friendly Afternoon Net from Towers Hill.

During the Friendly Afternoon Net, a message will be released from Townsville, relayed by participants as accurately as possible through to Charters Towers and then to the Atherton Tablelands.

This activity to simulate message handling on AM, including the noise, distortion and fading experienced by message handlers of old.
