60m, is it a new band for Portugal?

According to José Miguel Fonte, CT1ENQ) on a message posted in the Portuguese mailing list ARLA/CLUSTER, José de Sá, CT1EEB, is active on 5,403.5 MHz with a daily pileup.

Trusting the same source, such incredible experience is only likely to happen due to a special authorization from ICP-ANACOM (the regulator, supervisor and representative of the communications sector in Portugal), valid until the end of July 2010.

While it's impossible to predict if more Portuguese stations will follow this example over the next weeks, the location of Murtosa IN50qr will be on the air, at irregular intervals, on 60 metres.

For additional details on CT1EEB ham radio station, please be so kind and visit the homepage at http://www.qsl.net/ct1eeb.

This first activity on 5,371.5 MHz (CW) and 5,403.5 MHz (SSB) is no doubt opening prospects for a promising acknowledgment of a 60 m frequency segment to Portuguese Ham Radio stations, somewhere in the future.
