New 8.97kHz Amateur Radio DX record
On Monday, March 15 Stefan Schaefer DK7FC achieved an Amateur Radio world record on 8.97 kHz.
Stefan Schaefer DK7FC, running just 1.7 milliwatts ERP on 8.97 kHz, was received by Paul Nicholson in the UK over a distance of 830km. Markus DF6NM 180km away also received the signals.
Stefan was running 250 watts into a 100m vertical wire kite antenna which gave the 1.7 mW ERP. Practical antennas are very inefficient at these very low frequencies.
