<H1>New 8.97kHz Amateur Radio DX record</H1>
<P><FONT face=Tahoma>On Monday, March 15 <STRONG>Stefan Schaefer DK7FC</STRONG>
achieved an Amateur Radio world record on 8.97 kHz.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Tahoma>Stefan Schaefer DK7FC, running just 1.7 milliwatts ERP on
8.97 kHz, was received by Paul Nicholson in the UK over a distance of 830km.
Markus DF6NM 180km away also received the signals.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Tahoma>Stefan was running 250 watts into a 100m vertical wire kite
antenna which gave the 1.7 mW ERP. Practical antennas are very inefficient at
these very low frequencies.</FONT></P>
