CT1HZE working 2m Es pile on June 7

During the European 2m VHF contest on June 7th 2009, a major sporadic E opening took place between southern Portugal and France.

Within 2 hours Joe, CT1HZE from Algarve (grid locator IM57NH) worked about 170 QSOs via Es on 2m.

Distances were mostly in the 1000 to 1900km range but even stations from northern Spain were worked with distances well below 800km.

This is equivalent to a MUF of > 240 MHz. For sure an exceptional event.

You can read the full story in next issue of DUBUS Magazine (see www.DUBUS.org<http://www.dubus.org/>) and you can watch Joe, CT1HZE, during the pile up on Youtube below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdEEXtBk5-k
