ETSI Standards available as free downloads

The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) makes its publications, such as those on Power Line Telecommunications (PLT) available free of charge.

While some people have been able, through their work, to use the ETSI DVD's few individuals are willing to spend 2000 Euros to purchase them.

Fortunately private individuals can download ETSI publications free of charge from the ETSI website.

The procedure to do this is:

(1) Go To http://www.etsi.org/

(2) Click on "ETSI Standards Search" (top right-hand corner) this will display the page "Individually downloadable publications, free-of-charge"

(3) Enter a search topic in the search for box, for example PLT and click on "Search|"

This will display all the PLT related publications

(4) One of them will be ETSI TR 102 616 V1.1.1 (2008-03) "PowerLine Telecommunications (PLT); Report from PlugtestsTM 2007 on coexistence between PLT and short wave radio broadcast;Test cases and results"
Click on "Download", which will display the "Download" page

(5) Enter an email address you can access in the "Users without an ETSI account" Email field

(6) Click on "Click here to register" - This will display the "PERSONAL DETAILS" page

(7) Enter some Alphanumeric text in the fields marked with (*), leave the others blank.

In the case of the question "For what purpose do you need toaccess ETSI standardization information?" You could select "Industry Trends"

For the question "On a range of 1(low) to 5 (high), how important is it for your organization to keep to date with standards?" You could select "very high"

If you do not want junk mail from ETSI untick the box marked "I agree to be contacted for more information regarding ETSI Deliverables, Publications and/or Services."

(8) At this point an Email will be send to the address you gave above.

Send a blank email back to the sender

(9) Click the "Continue" button next to "You can download the publication you requested"

(10) At last you can now download your PDF, right hand mouse click on the PDF icon and select the appropriate "Save As" option according to your web browser

Individuals can also get copies free copies of ITU regulations.
