FT-726 display replacement

The blue display in a FT-726 gets unreadable after long time use. New display is not in stock. Many hams had this failure already.

Members of LA2AB, our local radio club, have solved the display problem for LA8WF by replacing the original display in the FT-726 with a backlit LCD!

A pic processor is used on a new pc-board same size as the original displayboard and stacked on top of the old one.

It uses a LCD display with 2 lines and 16 characters.

Then it will show the frequency in VFO A and VFO B simultaneously.

You need to be used to solder and have a bit knowledge, but we have film for PCB as well as drawings the pic prossessor program etc, for hams who believe they can do this job.

Photo of the result can be uploaded by contacting LA8WF.

We will like to help but we will not be responsible for any damage that might show up in the mod. process.
