Notas do Editor

http://dossiers.publico.pt/dossier.asp?idCanal=1647

Quem diria...

O projecto
i apresentado na versco original.

An electronic fish that helps you catch the real thing!

http://www.senaeng.com/images/nemo.jpg

The Nemo catcher uses the following components to lure fish: PIC10F220, 4017
Decade counter 10 X surface mount leds, A pager motor with off centre
vibration weight, 2N2222 transistor, 1 mercury tilt switch, 2 lithium 3V
batteries.

The device begins working as soon as a state change is detected on the tilt
switch.
Once operational the catcher stays operational for a period of 30 seconds,
after which it puts itself into a sleep mode, unless this period is extended
by further movement eg jigging the fishing line.
The device attracts fish by producing light patterns on its side using the
4017 decade counter.

Both the clock and reset lines of the 4017 are used so that intricate
patterns may be produced.
Additionally the device mimics the death struggles of an injured fish using
the pager motor.

Once every 30 seconds the pager motor is activated for a period of 5
seconds.
The pager motor is driven using a commonly available 2N2222 transistor I
recommend putting a across the motor to protect this transistor from damage
when the motor is switched off.

This whole circuit is built onto a small PC board and powered by two 3V
lithium button cells connected in parallel and placed inside a hollow rubber
fish skeleton that is completely sealed thus protecting the electronics from
water damage.
In case the device is consumed by a large fish or lost on some rocks due to
its low cost it may be rebuilt or replaced easily.
