<span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#222222">David Sobral é Licenciado em Física pela Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa e doutorado em Astronomia pela Universidade de Edimburgo. Atualmente é Investigador FCT no
Instituto de Astrofísica e Ciências do Espaço (IA) e no Observatório de Leiden, onde lidera uma equipa de jovens investigadores. Contribui ativamente para compreender como galáxias como a nossa se formaram e evoluíram ao longo do tempo, incluindo a descoberta
das galáxias mais distantes e o estudo pormenorizado de galáxias mais próximas. É também o representante de Portugal no comité de Utilizadores do ESO, membro do painel de avaliação de propostas do ESO, e membro da direção da Sociedade Portuguesa de Astronomia.
Para além da Ciência, sempre se interessou pela escrita/literatura e pela simplificação das mais variadas ideias, para lutar contra algum elitismo. Gosta de mostrar que, com trabalho e motivação nada é impossível, e de explo rar caminhos opostos aos que a
maioria segue.<u></u><u></u></span></p>
