<span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#222222">Um Pálido Ponto Azul é o nome da famosa fotografia tirada pela sonda Voyager-1 a uma distância de 6,4 mil milhões de quilómetros da Terra. Nessa fotografia, o nosso planeta é tão
pequeno como um pixel. Falaremos da importância que a Astronomia tem para reconhecermos a Terra como um lugar especial e de como as recentes missões espaciais, nas quais Portugal tem estado envolvido através da Agência Espacial Europeia, têm estudado e caracterizado
um planeta vivo em constante mudança. Os satélites do programa de Observação da Terra abordam diferentes aspectos do planeta como a Atmosfera, Oceanos, Clima, Geomagnetismo e Bioesfera. Pelo que se sabe até agora, a Terra é o único planeta onde a vida, tal
como a conhecemos, pode habitar. Podemos visitar outros mas não permanecer, não por enquanto. A Astronomia, a par com a Observação da Terra, é uma importante actividade de responsabilização por esta nossa casa que devemos conhecer e cuidar.<u></u><u></u></span></p>
