<span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#222222">Nos nossos dias, a existência de civilizações extraterrestres continua a ser um tópico de aceso debate. Se por um lado a astronomia continua a achar elementos, no Universo, que apontam
para uma aparente quase inevitabilidade do aparecimento da Vida, os inúmeros relatos de interações (avistamentos, comunicações, conflitos, raptos, etc…) com extraterrestres na Terra carecem de uma única comprovação científica (embora muitas fraudes tenham
já sido reveladas). Sem pretender incidir sobre a veracidade de tais relatos, esta palestra pretende analisar, de uma forma objetiva e precisa, as possibilidades de comunicar com eventuais civilizações extraterrestres na nossa vizinhança. De facto, há já alguns
anos que possuímos a capacidade de “escutar” o Universo, tendo mesmo chegado a emitir para estrelas longínquas mensagens sobre a nossa civilização (embora muitas destas tentativas estejam mais relacionadas com aç ões de marketing do que com a obtenção de uma
resposta). Interessa pois perceber aquilo que a comunidade científica consegue realizar hoje, e o que podemos esperar de tais esforços nas décadas que se aproximam.<u></u><u></u></span></p>
