<h1>Museum celebrates women in tech</h1>
<p>At their centenary the RSGB encouraged young women to use Raspberry Pi computer boards to decode radio signals, now the National Museum of Computing <br>at Bletchley Park has opened a gallery celebrating the role of women in computer history <br>
</p>
<p><br>The RSGB Buildathon took place July 5, 2013 at the centenary event in Bletchley Park. It involved building a 20m PSK-31 radio and using a Raspberry Pi to decode and display the text data being received.<br><br>The National Museum of Computing (TNMOC) is located in the grounds of Bletchley Park. The new gallery, sponsored by Google UK, documents the important role women have played in building and programming pioneering computers. It is hoped that the gallery will help to inspire more young women and girls to take up a job in the computer world.<br>
<br>At the opening ceremony for the gallery Dame Stephanie Shirley said <br><br>"Girls must take advantage of the revival of computing in schools and recognise and grab the opportunities that our wonderful sector offers. Britain's economy demands that women are not just consumers, but rather creators of new technologies and applications. This new Women in Computing gallery at TNMOC will promote positive role models for women and so encourage girls and women in critical thinking and engineering. It shows the heroines of computing as historic facts to inspire the upcoming generation."<br>
