Já a segunda, relata que no fim do mês de Março de 2013 há mais 301 licenças do que em Fevereiro de 2013.<br>
<br></div><div>Convém em primeiro lugar realçar que exames e licenças, fora de Portugal, não são necessariamente a mesma coisa. Haverá um ou outro país em que os examinandos chumbam nos exames.<br></div><div><br></div>Depois, não me parece que as notícias sejam incoerentes. Afinal em Março houve um acréscimo de 50% (301 licenças) em relação à média mensal do ano anterior (200 licenças), com certeza largamente compensando a diminuição de 17% de realização de exames verificada em Fevereiro.<br>
<br></div>Julgo que o jornalismo amadorístico britânico mostra assim estar ao nivel do jornalismo generalista português, debitando frequentemente notícias sem consistência ou interesse:<br></div>A primeira porque diz que há uma variação de 17% mas não refere quais os períodos a que se refere, o que torna o número insignificante.<br>
</div>A segunda porque tendenciosamente descarta um aumento mensal de 50% em relação à média mensal para depois concluir que é supreendente o aumento face a outras condições que não são bem quantificadas.<br></div><br>Isto só visto, hi hi.<br>

Ofcom amateur radio licence statistics released this week appear to show a continuing rise in the number of UK amateur radio licences.<br>
<br>
Ofcom's April statistics, which cover up until the end of March, show a grand total of 80658 licences against a figure for the previous month of 80357. There are approximately 2400 passes in the different grades of amateur radio exams each year so the increase for the month appears to be in line with the expected new licences issued for that month.<br>
<br>
On March 14 a response to a Freedom of Information Request stated that "Ofcom have not carried out another extension." [of the licence]<br>
<br>
If as Ofcom say the licences haven't been automatically extended then it seems surprising that the numbers continue to increase.<br>
<br>
The five year amateur radio licence was introduced in December 2006 and issued automatically to all current licence holders e.g. those who had taken out or renewed a licence from January 2006. It was later automatically extended by a year because of the 2012 Olympic Games. As a result it was expected that a large number of licences should have expired from December 2012. It is believed over 500 UK radio amateurs die each year and those who passed away in 2006/7/8/9 are unlikely to have renewed their licence.<br>
