from Buxton in Derbyshire, has become only the 6th person to have activated all 182* summits in the England (G) SOTA association (*182 = 176 current SOTA summits, plus 6 former, now deleted summits).

<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";mso-fareast-language:PT">In total, Steve has now activated over 500 summits in seven different countries
(England G, Wales GW, Scotland GM, Germany DM, Belgium ON, Luxembourg LX and Canary Islands EA8).

on the Isle of Wight, on 20th January 2013. Steve made 117 QSOs on a mixture on 40m SSB and 20m SSB from this summit.

SOTA (Summits On The Air) is pleased to report that three UK radio amateurs have recently achieved the coveted 'Mountain Goat' award for achieving 1000 points for activating summits.

from Pickering, North Yorkshire, started out by activating a handful of lower (1 point) Scottish hills in the summer of 2005. He has since become a prolific activator and portable operator, his achievements including activating every Wainwright summit in
the Lake District for the WOTA award, and being a member of the first ever SOTA expedition to Ailsa Craig GM/SS-246 (338m), off the Ayrshire coast. Phil became a Mountain Goat on the summit of Great Sugar Loaf EI/IE-022 (501m) in Co. Wicklow, Ireland. He
used 30m CW, 20m SSB & CW, and 2m FM to make 71 contacts on this activation.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

from Ness in Cheshire, became a SOTA 'Mountain Goat' on 9th January 2013. She activated the summit of Glyder Fawr GW/NW-003 (1001m) in Snowdonia, making 59 QSOs on 2m FM and 23cm FM. Karen has achieved the 1000 points in a remakably rapid 2 and a half years,
having only started SOTA in June 2010! <br>

Even quicker was <b>Barry Vile MW0IML</b>, who commenced SOTA activating in January 2011 with his Foundation call of MW6BDV. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";mso-fareast-language:PT">He has concentrated all his SOTA efforts so far in the North Wales (GW/NW)
and Lake District (G/LD) regions. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

activations as 2W0LYD and his current Full call MW0IML. Barry is a fully qualified International Mountain Leader, and hence his choice of suffix! <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";mso-fareast-language:PT">Barry's Mountain Goat activation took place on 21st January 2013 on the summit
of Carnedd Llewelyn GW/NW-002 (1064m). Barry made 29 QSOs using 2m FM and 23cm FM. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

(W8V), Estonia (ES), Slovakia (OM), Spain-South (EA7), Australia-Victoria (VK3), Madeira (CT3), USA-Georgia (W4G), Australia-South (VK5) and Canada-Alberta (VE6).
