</o:shapelayout></xml><![endif]--></head><body lang=PT link=blue vlink=purple><div class=WordSection1><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>Volvo Ocean Race - EI12VOR<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>Galway Radio Experimenters Club have just completed a successful week long series of activities in conjunction with the finale of the Round the World Volvo Ocean Race. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>Portable activites were carried out from the Scout Camp located at South Park, Claddagh, which was part of the overall site. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>During the week scouts were introduced to the wonders of the hobby. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>Short talks and demonstrations were given on topics which included, propagation, conctruction, communications methods, morse code, as well as other aspects of the hobby. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>Scouts showed a great interest in all aspects of the hobby and were very pleased to have any questions answered in a very down to earth and <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>practical manner. Indeed the speed that some took to learning morse was a joy to behold. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>Scouts from the Galway region as well as all over the country were in attendance and listed their visit to the "The Shack" as one of the most enjoyable.
