<H1>German Radio Amateur arrested in Lebanon</H1>
<P><FONT face=Tahoma>A German radio amateur was falsely arrested in Lebanon on
suspicion of spying for Israel.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Tahoma>Spiegel Online names the amateur as Manfred Peter H saying
earlier reports giving his name as Manfred Peter Mog were incorrect. It is
understood the Radio Amateur is Manfred Haug OD5/DL6SN who works in the Liban
Lait cheese factory in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Tahoma>It is reported he was arrested at the cheese factory by the
army at 1:30pm on Monday, July 26, <STRONG>apparently because he had what
Lebanese authorities considered to be sophisticated communications
equipment</STRONG>.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Tahoma>He was subjected to intense questioning by Lebanese
counterintelligence officers before eventually being released late on
Tuesday.</FONT></P>
