<P>Tem lugar de 23 de Janeiro a 17 de Fevereiro de 2012 a próxima Conferência
Mundial das Radiocomunicações (WRC-12) no âmbito da União Internacional das
Telecomunicações (UIT).</P>
<P>A UIT é a agência especializada das Nações Unidas (UN) para as tecnologias de
informação e comunicação, contando com a participação de 191 estados membros e
mais de 700 membros do sector e associados (sector privado) para o
desenvolvimento de redes e serviços de telecomunicações. A ANACOM, de acordo com
as suas atribuições, tem participado em várias actividades do Sector das
Radiocomunicações da UIT (UIT-R), com o objectivo de acompanhar as actividades
de gestão e planeamento de espectro radioeléctrico e, em representação de
Portugal, participar nas Conferências Mundiais das Radiocomunicações (WRCs).</P>
<P>As WRC têm lugar todos os 3 ou 4 anos. Estas Conferências, para além de terem
a seu cargo a revisão do Regulamento das Radiocomunicações (RR), que é um
tratado internacional subscrito por Portugal e que rege do ponto de vista
técnico e regulamentar a utilização do espectro de radiofrequências e as órbitas
de satélites, tratam questões de radiocomunicações de interesse mundial,
providenciam instruções ao Radio <SPAN xml:lang="en"><EM>Regulations Board</EM>
(RRB)</SPAN> e ao <SPAN xml:lang="en"><EM>Radiocommunication Bureau</EM> (BR)
</SPAN>e revêem as suas actividades, determinando igualmente questões a serem
estudadas pela <SPAN xml:lang="en"><EM>Radiocommunications Assembly</EM>
(RA)</SPAN> e pelos <SPAN xml:lang="en"><EM>Study Groups</EM> (SG)</SPAN> da
UIT-R para a preparação de Conferências futuras.</P>
