<P><FONT face=Tahoma>The first Norwegian 70 MHz (4m) beacon
<STRONG>LA7VHF</STRONG> started operating on 70,081 MHz on Sunday, June
6.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Tahoma>The NRRL Beacon Manager <STRONG>Stefan LA0BY</STRONG> has
provided this information:</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Tahoma>Callsign: LA7VHF<BR>Locator: JP99LQ (Tromsoe)<BR>Frequency:
70,081 MHz<BR>Antenna: 4-ele yagi beaming 190 deg<BR>Power: 10 W output (ca. 40
W ERP)<BR>Beacon responsible: Aasmund Birger Jakobsen, LA5TFA</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Tahoma>Many thanks to Ralf LA5QEA for supplying a commercial TX
and PA, and to Dithmar DF7KF for supplying the beacon keyer. The units were
integrated and re-tuned to 70MHz by LA0BY. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Tahoma>The beacon is presently operated from the QTH of the beacon
keeper LA5TFA. It is planned to co-locate the 4m beacon with the 2m beacon
LA7VHF and the 6m beacon LA7SIX.</FONT></P>
