<H1>Digital ATV in the UK</H1>
<P><FONT face=Tahoma>Radio Amateurs in the UK are increasingly experimenting
with Digital Amateur Television (DATV), Charles G4GUO is one of
those.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Tahoma><STRONG>Charles Brain G4GUO</STRONG> is well-known for his
development of Amateur HF Digital Voice in the late 1990's and the PC-ALE
software. He is now working on<STRONG> Digital ATV equipment for the Amateur
24cm and 70cm bands</STRONG>.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Tahoma>His 24cm transmitter comprises a Core 2 Quad 2.8 GHz Linux
box running the Fedora 12 O/S, a Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP2)
card developed by Matt Ettus N2MJI and a Hauppauge PVR500 MPEGII encoder card.

<P><FONT face=Tahoma>The transmit rate is 2 Msps (Mega-Samples Per Second).

<P><FONT face=Tahoma>On receive he uses a standard Fortec Star DVB-S set top
