Announcing the D-Star ScriptShop

Brian, NJ6N and Darren,
G7LWT have produced a number of enhanced scripting functions to make
life easier for mobile D-Star users.

Examples include a command to quickly link to the last busy
reflector and another to establish if/where a repeater is linked through to.

The first few scripts aim to help mobile users that don't
have web access to check network activity via dstarusers.org etc. Here are a
list of the functions that are ready for download immediately:

DX Display gateway IP address. Great for
gateways with ISPs using DHCP

IX Return link status information. Can
also e-mail admin users' PDA

KX Unlink (kill) all links (obeys linking
privileges in dplus.conf)

LX Link to last busy reflector, great for
finding a QSO in the quiet hours

RX Random reflector link to one of 10 most
recently busy reflectors

UX Display server uptime and average CPU
load

To use these functions, place the two letter command in the
7th and 8th position of UR: prefixed with your gateway callsign. eg. GB7AU IX
(one space) will return which reflector is currently linked via a text
message.

Notes:

- To use the ScriptShop "exec" commands above, users must
be registered on the D-STAR network

- dplus version 2.2f or greater, is a prerequisite for the
support of these scripts

- For security, users can only use the DX command when
their callsign appears in the [adminusers] section of dplus.conf. Each entry
*must* include a PIN number in this format:

[adminusers]
NJ6N,1234
G7LWT,4567

The ScriptShop also includes some guidance on rolling your
own scripts using the new variables that Robin, AA4RC has made
available in dplus 2.2f. The "Roll Your Own" page will be further updated over
the next few weeks. Additionally, admin tools will be released from time to
time, the first of which is a fully automated gateway backup script with
associated documentation for restoration.

Instructions for downloading and installing the scripts can
be found at http://dstar.info . We'd like to take a
moment to thank Robin, AA4RC for supporting this initiative with extensions to
the, already feature rich, dplus functionality.

Please let us have your feedback and suggestions for new
scripts via: <FONT
