<H1>4 new IOTAs to be activated </H1>
<P><FONT face=Tahoma>Between mid-March and early April, a team of amateur radio
operators lead by Nils, SM6CAS, will activate four <STRONG>uninhabited IOTA
islands</STRONG> (in the <STRONG>Southern Line Islands Group*</STRONG>) that
have never been put on the air before. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Tahoma>Operators mentioned are:<BR>Nils SM6CAS, Steve G4EDG, Mike
K9AJ and Derek G3KHZ. Also a team of 5 Kiribati Government officers will be with
them. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Tahoma>The team will sail on the "SV Kwai" from Kiritimati
(Christmas Island) on approximately <STRONG>March 17th</STRONG>, returning to
Kiritimati approximately <STRONG>April 18th</STRONG>. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Tahoma>The IOTAs mentioned to be aired are: <BR><FONT
face="Times New Roman"><FONT face=Tahoma><STRONG>Malden
Island</STRONG></FONT></FONT><STRONG> (OC-279), <BR>Starbuck Island
(OC-280),<BR>Caroline Island (OC-281) and <BR>Vostok Island (OC-282).</STRONG>
</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Tahoma>Per their Web site (under construction), the team will
operate from two sites (two stations each) and will operate on 40-10 meters
using a variety of verticals and dipoles. </FONT></P>
