<P align=left><FONT face=Verdana>"It's going to be a great show," say Ron

<P align=left><FONT face=Verdana>Experts at NASA estimate there could easily

<P align=left><FONT face=Verdana></FONT> </P>
<P align=left><FONT face=Verdana>The show begins at 9:00 pm on Tuesday, August
11. We haven't yet determined the best location to hold the Perseid
Party so check back in the coming weeks. Of course, all this
presumes the night skies will be clear. </FONT></P>
<P align=left><FONT face=Verdana>We're also not sure what the fee will be but
as soon as we have things finalized, it will be on the site.</FONT></P>
<P align=left><FONT face=Verdana>Ron & Rolly will start with an outdoor
video presentation explaining what you can expect to see. The source of
the meteor shower is the Comet Swift-Tuttle. Although the comet is
nowhere near Earth, its tail does intersect our orbit. We glide
through it every year in August and tiny bits of comet dust hit Earth's
atmosphere travelling 132,000 mph. At that speed even a smidgen of dust
makes a vivid streak of light....a meteor...when it disintegrates.
Because Swift-Tuttle's meteors fly out of the constellation Perseus, they are
called "Perseids."</FONT></P>
<P align=justify><FONT face=Verdana><IMG style="WIDTH: 227px; HEIGHT: 215px"
height=253 alt="" hspace=5
src="http://www.experiencepei.ca/UserFiles/Image/Briarcliffe-starry_night-watchers_Small_Web_view.jpg"
width=250 align=right></FONT></P>
<P align=justify><FONT face=Verdana></FONT> </P>
<P align=justify><FONT face=Verdana></FONT> </P>
<P align=justify><FONT face=Verdana>While the first meteors should be visible
around 10:00 pm, as the night unfolds, Perseus will climb higher into the sky
and the meteor rate will increase significantly. By 2:00 am dozens of
Perseids may be flitting across the sky every hour....so make sure you prepare
for a great time.</FONT></P>
<P align=justify><FONT face=Verdana>And there's a bonus. Mars! In
the constellation Taurus, just below Perseus, Mars shines like a bright red
star. Many of the Perseids will flit right past Mars and you may have a
hard time taking your eyes off Mars. There's something bewitching about
it....maybe the red colour or the fact that it doesn't twinkle like a true
star. You stare at Mars and it stares right back!</FONT></P>
<P align=justify><FONT face=Verdana>Rolly, Ron and other members of the Athena
Astronomy Club will be on hand with telescopes and binoculars.</FONT></P>
<P align=justify><FONT face=Verdana>Bring your lawn chairs or folding
loungers, warm clothes, bug spray, snacks and refreshments</FONT></P>
