<H1>Radio Pollution - NZ regulator inspects shops</H1>
<P><FONT face=Verdana>The New Zealand regulator, the <STRONG>Ministry of
Economic Development</STRONG> (MED), clearly take Radio Pollution seriously.
</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana>They recently carried out visits to shops in Auckland to
ensure that the electrical products sold did not contribute to radio pollution
and interference. </FONT></P>

<P><STRONG><EM><FONT face=Verdana>Audit carried out on compliance of electrical
products</FONT></EM></STRONG></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana>Smaller retail outlets in Auckland were the focus of
educational visits and audits during 27 April to 1 May.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana>Four Radio Inspectors and Radio Spectrum Management's
Compliance Officer visited shops and spoke to owners throughout the
week.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana><STRONG>The audits assessed electrical product compliance
<U>levels in regard to the electromagnetic compatibility requirements that
protect the radio spectrum from interference</U>, and also looked at electrical
safety issues</STRONG>.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana>This is part of the Ministry of Economic Development's
ongoing work to ensure that electrical products supplied in <STRONG>New Zealand
are safe for use and <U>do not contribute to radio pollution and
interference</U></STRONG>.</FONT></P>
