<p><font face="Verdana">Caros colegas,<br><br>Circula na Internet um
veemente apelo ao Governador Arnold Schwarzeneggar , para salvar do
desmantelamento o Centro de Transmissões histórico da Voz da América(VOA) em
Delano, na Califórnia, denominado 'Save The Delano VOA'.<br><br>Desde
Agosto de 2007, que o International Broadcasting Bureau (IBB), organismo de
controle estatal dos Estados Unidos, tomou a decisão de encerrar este histórico
centro em 28 de Outubro do mesmo ano, várias vozes se tem levantado contra esta
triste realidade.<br><br>Este Centro comporta 23 antenas, a maioria de cortina,
ligados a 7 transmissores de 250KW e a 2 transmissores de 50KW, ocupando uma
área total de 320 hectares. Desde 2003, que um criticado plano de
reestruturação, fez diminuir os seus 20 funcionários para somente 7, prevendo
uma poupança de 1,8 milhões de dólares/ano.<br><br>Desde 1944, que a Voz da
América utilizou esta plataforma para as suas transmissões em Onda Curta e com o
seu encerramento, o único Centro de Transmissões da VOA em solo americano
existente é o de Greenville, na Carolina do Norte.<br><br>João Costa,
