<H1>D-STAR Comms Version 1.0.106 released </H1>
<P>A<FONT face=Verdana> new verion of the popular <STRONG>Dstar Comms</STRONG>
software has been released.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana>Matt M0DQW writes: </FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana>After a long time adding new features and testing (and
enjoying the UK sun! not) I have released the latest version of Dstar Comms for
you all to use and test.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana>As there are quite a few major features added that could
effect other current features I will leave version 1.0.55 available to download
until I am happy this is a stable release.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana>New Features:</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana><STRONG>1) POP3 RF Gateway</STRONG> <BR>(Allows a user to
relay emails from the internet to a RF Dstar Comms user) <BR>POP3 domain is
specified by user running the gateway.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana><STRONG>2) Email Inbox</STRONG><BR>For receiving emails
from a POP3 to RF Gateway</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana><STRONG>3) GPS Tracker</STRONG><BR>Allows GPS data to be
recorded into a database and if the user is connected to the internet, the live
position can be showed on an embedded google map webpage.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana><STRONG>4) GPS Beacon Emulator</STRONG><BR>This has two
features. The first you can take the NMEA from a third party GPS receiver, like
a bluetooth device, and then broadcast it with callsign and gps message, as a
dstar radio with a gps receiver would. Useful for those that don't have a Icom
dedicated gps receiver.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana>The second feature allows a user to broadcast a fixed GPS
location by entering their co-ordinates into dstar comms. This is also useful
for those that don't have any means of receiving GPS data but would like to
broadcast their location.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana>Both methods send GPRMC aswell as GPGGA which means that
the GPS data, along with callsign and gps message will show on the receiving
stations dstar radio POSI screen.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana><STRONG>5) Email Gateway Log</STRONG><BR>If your
installation of dstarcomms allows emails to be routed through you to the
internet then you can now log who and when the email was routed. The contents of
the email is NOT recorded for security reasons but the subject and sender
is.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana><STRONG>6) Bulletin</STRONG><BR>The bulletin page adds a
easy way of sending a pre-written (or ad hoc) text message to multiple
dstarcomms users. You are able to open a text file and send the text or you can
write your own and save it to send later. This would be useful if sending
directions to an event etc</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana><STRONG>7) Recall message bar</STRONG><BR>Everytime a
message is sent, the message will be recorded in the recall message dropdown at
the bottom of the screen. If the message needs to be sent again, then you can
simply select the message from the dropdown and press send again.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana><STRONG>Installation notes:<BR></STRONG>If you are
overwriting a previous install of Dstar Comms then you may be prompted to keep
an existing file called "setup.ini".<BR>If asked to keep the current file you
must select <EM><STRONG>no</STRONG></EM> so that the new "setup.ini" will be
installed and overwrite the old one.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana>Usual rules apply to installing on Windows Vista, please
see the sticky on Vista installation.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana>I have had a few comments about the installer for this
program and I have taken these onboard and my next task will be creating a more
user friendly installer that doesn't ask many questions.</FONT></P>
