<H1>SERA announces Digital Voice Repeater bandplans </H1>
<P><FONT face=Verdana>The US South Eastern Repeater Association, Inc (SERA)(USA)
has announced it's bandplan for 2 metre and 70 cm Digital Voice repeaters.
</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana>On 2 metres, they have interleaved the D-STAR channels
with the existing 20 kHz spacing FM repeaters. They have adopted a similar
policy on 70cm with the D-STAR channels offset 12.5 kHz from the 25 kHz FM
repeater channels. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana>We are currently in the period where both FM and D-STAR
operations need to co-exist and different solutions to this problem are being
used in different parts of the world depending on local circumstances.
</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana><STRONG>In time Digital Voice will replace FM on both 2
metres and 70 cm.</STRONG> </FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana><STRONG>Currently D-STAR is the leading contender for
Digital Voice, it can operate in 8.33 kHz channel spacing</STRONG>.</FONT></P>
