<H1>AO-16 Spans the Atlantic </H1>
<FONT face=Verdana>Radio Hams have been making contacts across the Atlantic using the Amateur Radio Satellite AO-16, which was recently reconfigured for voice operation. </FONT><BR>
<FONT face=Verdana>On the AMSAT Bulletin Board (AMSAT-BB) <STRONG>Robert G8ATE</STRONG> reports working <STRONG>CU2JX</STRONG> in the Azores followed by VE3NPC in Ottowa, Canada. </FONT><BR>
<FONT face=Verdana>He did that running just 5 watts to a 6 element Quad antenna.</FONT><BR>
<FONT face=Verdana>AO-16 is unusual in that it's uplink is FM but the downlink is SSB (more precisely DSB see link below) </FONT><BR>
<FONT face=Verdana>The uplink is 145.920 FM, and the downlink is 437.026 SSB +/- Doppler shift. </FONT><BR>
