SAQ Grimeton transmission on October 24
On United Nations Day, October 24, the SAQ Very Low Frequency
transmitter in Grimeton, Sweden, will again send out a message to the
whole world on 17.2 kHz CW
14:30 GMT: Startup and tuning of the Alexanderson Alternator SAQ.
15:00 GMT: Transmission of a message from SAQ on 17.2 kHz CW.

SAQ was built in the early 1920's and became operational on December
1, 1924. It is the last surviving working example of a transmitter
using Anderson Alternator technology. Even as construction started in
1922 the Anderson Alternator was being rendered obsolete by the vacuum
tube.
