IARU-R1 VHF-UHF-Microwave newsletter

The edition 85 of the free IARU Region 1 VHF-UHF-Microwave newsletter
is now available for download

The newsletter looks ahead to the 25th IARU-R1 General Conference that
will be held in Novi Sad, Serbia, on October 11-16.

The amateur radio 1240-1300 MHz allocation is threatened by the
Galileo GNSS constellation that transmits across 1260-1300 MHz. The
newsletter notes the Galileo team has witnessed interference from
amateur TV transmissions which resulted in station shut down and has
experienced interference from high power EME operations too.

Work is at an early stage and the IARU will continue to try and
minimise the impact on amateur operations however it is likely that
some changes will be necessary to the way we use the band.

The topic is closely related to the WRC-23 and agenda item 9.1b
reported in the last newsletter.
