Big activity on the sun

Sunspot numbers remain very low as Solar Minimum continues. Nevertheless,
there is some big activity on the sun today. Really big.

NASA satellites and amateur astronomers are monitoring a giant filament of
magnetism jutting out from the edge of the solar disk. The glowing
structure is fully one-tenth of the sun's diameter.
