Reverse-polarity sunspots appear on the sun

A new solar cycle is coming. Today (December 25), two sunspots emerged on
the solar disk. Their reversed magnetic polarity marks them as members of
new Solar Cycle 25.

This quickening of new-cycle solar activity suggests that the sun is not
entering a new Maunder Minimum despite the recent scarcity of sunspots.
