How the IARU is funded

The WIA report that funding of the International Amateur Radio
Union(IARU) is from more than 160 national radio societies, through a
levy taken from the membership subscriptions of their transmitting
members.

The Wireless Institute of Australia (WIA) paid about $3,500 in 2017,
which is $1 per head to the IARU for international activities.

The WIA is an active member of the IARU Region 3, which covers the Asia-Pacific.

Apart from annual dues, the WIA partly funds attendance at the Asia
Pacific Planning Group meetings in the lead up to the ITU world
radiocommunications conference, with the next one in 2019. The WIA
also sends representatives to the three-yearly IARU Region 3
Conference, with the next one late 2018 in South Korea.

The IARU works hard protecting the interests of the amateur service
and amateur satellite.
