News Flash: Essex Coastal Evacuation - RAYNET on Standby

On the morning of Thursday, January 12 Tendering District Council
placed radio amateurs in Essex RAYNET on standby with anticipated
deployment within 24 hours

The East Anglian Daily Times reports Jaywick and areas in Essex
vulnerable to the risk of flooding are set to be evacuated Friday
morning.

At about 9:30am Thursday Essex RAYNET had tweeted to their members:
"With the predicted forthcoming weather and high tides, please ensure
you have all batteries charged and equipment ready."

Tendering District Council (Clacton) say:
"The severe weather situation of both rain and strong winds, which is
set to potentially cause flooding in Jaywick, is likely to reach its
peak at lunchtime tomorrow afternoon, Friday, January 13.
In response to the information provided by both the Environment Agency
and the Met Office the multi-agency group has decided that residents
in Jaywick will be evacuated from their homes.
Police officers will be calling at addresses in Jaywick from 4pm this
afternoon to advise people that a full evacuation plan will be
implemented starting at 7am on Friday morning, January 13."
