Ham radio provided link during invasion of Kuwait

When Iraqi tanks rolled into Kuwait in the early 1990s, their first
target was the country's communications systems. But not everyone went
dark. A man in Urbana received one of the only signals coming from
Kuwait: on his ham radio in his home in Urbana!

That remarkable account is one of several war-related stories
connected to American military activity in the Persian Gulf that
guests can experience at the Vermilion County War Museum.
