Tony's 10 Metre Band Report

Oh a very poor week made somewhat brighter by Friday, Saturday and
Sunday but still a downward trend. J5B and J5W were top dogs again
followed by S79Z (Seychelles) and HZ1SK (Saudi Arabia) at the weekend.

It’s not too often I notice Chinese stations in these lists. There are
a few this week. I would like to hope China can open its doors a
little wider to visiting Radio Amateurs particularly as I visit
Shanghai regularly.
Just look at this array from BG3GJA!

Darrell, G0HVQ, worked PU2KOB, PP5XA, LU4XAP, PU2LJH, PU2W and heard
J5W and S79Z on Friday. In this week’s only report he says,
“Hi Tony, thought you might appreciate a report of some 10m contacts
as things have been so dire. Despite next to no sunspots, 10m has been
opening up on the South America path this week, with LU and PY in late
afternoon and early evening several days. The 2 big DX'peditions J5W
and S79Z were also in but just too weak to work with my Hexbeam.
There's also been a bit of early-season Es starting to appear, I and
EA worked on JT65 today (Sat).”
Yes I certainly do appreciate the report.

Here’s one that got lost in the filing system so my apologies to
Daniel, IK2SGL/OA8. And please do send in more reports I promise to
file them more carefully.
“Hi Tony, I have just discovered your report and I really like it. It
give a good frame of the ten meters band. I saw you had me on one
list. Just some info abt. me in case. I am active mainly on Mondays
when I have some free time. I usually start monitoring the 28MHz and
then shiftin into lower bands. On 10 meters I usually have rag chewing
with Trinidad and Tobago with my friend Mark 9Z4Y. Listening to the
beacons there is some interesting activity. Unfortunately very few
take time to listen on the band or make CQ. It seems there is a sort
of pathology of "cluster disease". Despite the bad conditions of the
band it is funny and interesting. Rare stations pop-up for a couple of
minutes then the signal fades in QSB.
I am /OA8 from the Peruvian Selva. The prefix is quite interesting
because as far as I know I am the only station active from the area 8
of Peru. I will continue working on 10 meters as it is a really
interesting band.”
