ARLA/CLUSTER: U.R.A. installs cross band repeater on highest point in Portugal at 2, 351m

Paulo Borges (CU3EM) reported to Portuguese ARLA/CLUSTER List that the
new cross-band repeater of União de Radioamadores dos Açores (Azores
Amateur Radio Union), CQ1EPIX is working since last weekend in Pico
Island, Azores

Portuguese ham radio operators Antonio Paz (CU3AJ) and Paulo Gomes
(CR8ABI) began on Saturday the arduous climb to the higher point of
Mount Pico in Pico Island at 5:30am to assembly this repeater that
works in cross-band on the frequencies Tx / Rx: 144.550 MHz and Tx /
Rx: 439.550 MHz with CTCSS: 82.5 Hz.

Please note, that this is the highest mountain in Portugal and the
third one emerging from the Atlantic Ocean, reaching 2,351 meters
(7,713 ft) above sea level in the North Atlantic Ocean about 1,360 km
(850 mi) west of continental Portugal.
