SAQ received on WebSDR

*Martin Ehrenfried G8JNJ* received the 17.2 kHz SAQ transmission from the
VLF Alexanderson alternator in Sweden using the web-based software defined
radio located near Farnham

The Alexanderson alternator is an electromechanical radio transmitter named
after the Swedish engineer Ernst F.W. Alexanderson. It was constructed from
1922 to 1924 at Grimeton close to Varberg in Sweden and is now classified
as a World Heritage Site.

The transmissions took place on the morning of July 3 and Martin reports
signals were good, at a level of approximately 15 dB above the noise floor
in a 500 Hz bandwidth, which was despite strong impulse noise from intense
thunderstorms that were raging over Eastern Europe at the time.

The low frequency coverage of the SUWS WebSDR extends from 5 kHz - 2 MHz.
As well as SAQ transmissions you can use it to receive Lightning, Data
transmissions, Beacons, AM broadcast stations as well as the 136 kHz, 472
kHz and 1810 kHz Amateur Bands.
