The Kerry Amateur Radio Group now active on DMR

At the most recent club meeting John EI9ESB, gave a presentation
introducing DMR to the attendees.

The talk outlined the basics of the mode and included the various ways
to become active. A practical demonstration followed of a portable DMR
access point which is entirely self contained in a rugged waterproof
case.

The attendees were all able to try out the mode with many getting on
air for their first DMR QSO.

Kerry Amateur Radio Group look forward to working many stations via
DMR and plan on activating the mode at the next outing which is the
International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend in August.

Planning for the event at the Cromwell Point Lighthouse on Valentia
Island, Co. Kerry is well underway and the club members were briefed
by the club's Expeditionary Radio Team on this year's station set up,
which will include the new club HF set.

Club members got a chance to familiarise themselves with the operation
of the radio ahead of the International Lighthouse and Lightship
Weekend. The club are looking forward to another successful event and
welcoming many visitors and HAMS at the Cromwell Point Lighthouse on
Valentia Island, Co. Kerry.
