The next *Skills Night*, hosted by the Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society
Training Team, starts at 7pm on Monday, September 21. This free event is
open to all

The Skills Night is an informal monthly get-together in central Essex,
where anyone with an interest in radio can come along, try something new,
share ideas, get help and advice, and socialise with others interested in
the hobby.

The aim is to have around six demonstrations taking place at the Danbury
Village Hall – some aimed at beginners, some covering new modes, some
offering equipment demonstrations, and some offering tips or services.

Activities at previous Skills Nights have included:
Radio amateurs at a CARS Skills Night

• Construction – 2m and 70cm Slim Jim antenna and 2 metre dipole
construction and adjustment. Also, patch lead construction, and access to
equipment, tools and soldering irons.
• Radio Programming
• Morse Code
• Data Modes & Projects
• Satellites
• Onion Corner – Show-and-tell, and helpful advice, from Peter G0DZB
• Callsign badge making
• Getting Started - Essex Ham will be demonstrating a popular data mode,
offering some getting started guides, and providing the wi-fi
• Quiz: Test your amateur radio knowledge, just for fun.
• Representatives from CARS, Essex RAYNET, Essex Repeater Group, Essex CW
Club and Essex Ham on hand to help with questions

The Skills Night is free to attend, with refreshments provided. The event
is open to everyone with an interest in any aspect of radio, if you know
